Stand-ins (Macros)

A stand-in for a word not yet chosen.

  • State Separation: The document (in Nim) holds only the name (the source of truth), while the C# UI draws a cached value so the page can render without constantly looking it up. The name is what the export resolves.
  • Atomicity: It is an atomic node—the caret steps over it, backspace removes all of it, and it's impossible to end up with half a name in the middle of a sentence.
  • Input Rule: Typing /name followed by a space converts into the stand-in, but only if the name is one this book has defined (leaving regular text like "and/or" alone).
  • Live Updates: Changing the definition instantly updates every occurrence.
